R.I.P Robert Rauschenberg died Tuesday, at 82.

Wednesday, May 14

I have always loved his work. If you do not know him, he pioneered "combines," mixed-media riffs that melded sculpture, painting and pop objects. Some of his famous pieces were the JFK piece and the real chair up against a oil painting with stripes carrying through from the wall piece to the chair.

Rauschenberg is one of the few real genius painters of this century, in my opinion. It is always so sad when such a talent is gone, but I like it when such an great artist is appreciated in his time.
