Fright Night/Chili Weather

This weekend was Horror Movie/ Chili weekend. Our friend's Lora and Burt just gave birth to their first child, a beautiful 7 lb girl, Olivia Katherine. I made a pot of chili to bring the new parents so we headed over there and after holding Olivia and hearing full birth details, we went went home and decided never to sleep in the same bed again. Since we were already in shock, we decided to take in some Monster Fest X. First it was The Fly, and then Halloween, the classic. Christy then suggested we watch this Butterfly Effect with Ashton Kutcher. I would totally recommend this flick. I was at first extremely ambivalent but then completely amazed! Check it out!

It's not really a typical horror movie, but I love Evil Dead II. I remember trying to convert people in college to loving this movie, as I described Bruce Campbell being beat up by his own hand, and they thought I was crazed.

wow, i have never seen Evil Dead or II. i may have to check them out. christy is not a big fan of horror. I myself would rather watch horror than supernatural freaky suspense b/c you KNOW horror for the most part, is not true. the Fall weather sure does put one in the freak show mood. Happy Halloween week! Are you kids all in costumes? What are they going as?

Yay, another person to convert! It's directed by Sam Raimi (Spiderman) and stars Bruce Campbell. If you don't know who Bruce is, I feel very sorry for you. (Okay, a few hints, he's the Wrestling Emcee in Spiderman, the usher in Spiderman II, was Autolycus on Xena and Hercules, had a kick-ass role on X-files as a Demon who wants a real family, and many other roles that have earned him a spot as a great B-movie actor. He even wrote a book on his B-Movie status, which I have a signed copy of. And we have the same birthday.)

Anyway, Evil Dead II is half horror, half Three Stooges. Lot's of blood flows, but a fair amount of it is green instead of red. This trailer should give you a good idea of the tone of it. I've never actually seen the first Evil Dead, which is a more classic horror film. The third film is Army of Darkness, which borders on the ridiculous. It has a brilliant ending though. Please, please, please rent it. You will be so happy you did. In fact, I just may have to skip Lost tonight to watch it, now that you have me in the mood.
