Sunday, January 7

One: You've been couped up too long and get a hair-brained idea
Two: You get your wife to help dig out the snow

Three: You rake down the snow

Four: You Drag your wife and dog around in the snow

Five: You use birdseed on a card table with rope

Six: You smooth out the snow with a board, that you found in the garage

Seven You spray lots of water on the snow....
Eight: You wait until it gets colder and you add more water to the snow.
I will post the final pics once it freezes and we achieve skate quality ice.

Winter Weather and the endless subject: Snow

Friday, January 5

Well, I would like to approach some other topics other than snow, but for now, the snow is the bomb. Snow keeps coming down here in Denver, despite what the Farmer's Almanac and weather scientists predicted for this Rockies region.

Every year I anxiously await the arrival of the latest Almanac to give me some snow hope for the coming winter season. I rely on them to keep me informed about other parts of the country as well, like New England and the Plains. This year, they predicted we would have relatively the same weather activity as last year for both here in Denver and for New England. If you have memory of last year you will recall that NE got nailed with what we are getting this year. And last year here, we only got a few small snow storms.

Then, about 3 weeks ago, after our second minor snowfall that broke some tree limbs and caused a ruckus in various ways around town, I heard on NPR and in the news that El Nino was back and he was not going to bless us with any moisture until at least mid-February. I destinctly remember that. Well, we all know how that prediction ended.

Today we are in another Winter Storm Warning with expectations of around 1 foot of snow in the foothills (Boulder, Golden), and we could get that much but probably closer to 8 inches. I was out this morning in my boxers shoveling a place for the doggies to potty and by the time I left for work, there was already another 1/2 inch covering my work. Meanwhile, CNN ran this story yesterday about how warm it has been in NYC which has not seen a dry winter like this in over 100 years. Chicago is in the 50s and Minneapolis is cancelling their snow/ice festivals. Crazy but I love it! Glad I bought snow boots two years ago.

Yep. Another One. Forecast: Snow!

Thursday, December 28

Weatherbug has given us this forecast again. Winter Storm Warning in effect until late Friday night with snow continuing into Saturday. Yippee! Rejoice!

Someone asked if I was getting sick of the snow yet. No, not yet. The city needs this. I guess, besides the poor snow removal plans in place from last week that actually the Mayor is addressing, it is beautiful! One time when I do not long for VT.

Forecast Snow!

Thursday, December 21

To quote Death Cab for Cutie...
"The snow's coming down
I'm watching it fall
Watching the people around
Baby please come home"

It has been snowing steadily since yesterday at about 6:45am. We have 23 inches on the ground now and it is still snowing hard. The blizzard warning is in effect at least until Noon today. I cannot get to work. RTD bus and rail lines are closed. We have over 2 feet of snow in the street and our cars are buried. It is amazing and beautiful.

I love this winter weather: 2006

Wednesday, December 20

Snow! I'm gonna wash my hands my hair and face with Snow!

For the past two days I have been watching the weather reports because they posted a Winter Storm Warning in effect until Wednesday night. Well this morning I woke up and checked Weatherbug and too my surprise, the Winter Storm Warning had been cancelled and updated to a Blizzard Warning in effect until Thursday. They are predicting and expecting over a foot, yes 12 inches, of snow for Denver proper. YES! At least it will be a white Christmas this year! Our first year in Denver for Christmas since I have lived here.

Forecast. Snow. New Background.

Wednesday, November 29

Happy Snow Day!
It was a gorgeous day out today. They predicted 1-3 inches of snow and we got at least 5.
In honor of the snow, I am trying out some backgrounds on my blog. You will notice here the patter of flannel.
What are your thoughts? Festive? Too distracting? Comforting? Tomorrow I will put up a new one. I would love to hear your input. Thanks and here's wishing you all get snow. Even those of you in Florida.

This pattern is brought to you by the cool dudes at Squid Fingers.

Forecast. Snow.
