"Helen, we've got an OWL out here in the hall."

Ok, not hall, but our alley/backyard. It was amazing. Last night, as we were preparing for dinner with Jay and Kim, I went out to call the dogs in. As I looked down to the end of the yard and looked up, I noticed this in the tree behind our house in the alley. He/she was as big, if not bigger, than Gibson, and was gorgeous. I snuck into the alley to snap a few photos. She saw me right away but did not move. Then a squirrel made a call and the owl turned it head all the way around, like they do, and casually took notice of me again. These photos show the quality of my new Canon camera with 4x digital zoom. I also took a little video snippet with it as well, but missed the feathered wonder with a wingspan of twice it's body height fly off. We anxiously await it's return. (sidenote) My bosses neighbor lost his dog to an owl last month. They first thought it was taken by a coyote, but my boss's kids caught the owl sitting on the decks rail. Awesome and sad in the same breath. ..........................................................................................................

Scammed by an Amazon.com seller

I have posted about this DVD, THE CHASE, with Charlie Sheen and Kristy Swanson before. But this time it is personal! I had been waiting for over a month for this DVD when I decided to look at the Sellers ratings. It turns out that about everyone in the past month has been scammed by this SOB. I only am out $8 but it still makes me mad. I feel sorry for all the other out there too. I have put in a report to Amazon and may get my money back, but you never know. I am not scarred from buying from them, but am going to be more cautions. Funny thing is, I alway watch and research the sellers ratings before I buy. He/She had 4 out of 5 stars. I WANT MY THE CHASE DVD.....

I'm Back!

hey there. nice to see you again. yes. it has been a while. i have been working on a new header, and i guess i was just not feeling inspired to write anything on my old boring outdated blogsite. i have added a new tagline and logo to the banner if you notice. dhgatsby blog. on. "DHGATSBY is a name I came up with, combining my initials, (D)(H)(G) with the Great Gatsby, a title I got from CS about being the Great Gatsby of Yankton. I use it for my email and usernames. I felt like it is becoming more of my identity on the web, so a natural progression would be to use it here. The BLOG. ON. is something i came up with on the spot and i have no idea if someone else is using it or not. i like it. what do you think? in the coming month, i am going to be changing the format of this blog's subject matter. it will still contain personal junk, but it will predominately be about design and influences of design. that can encompass many facets of the design world, so keep an eye out for that. we have been watching a lot of Olympic coverage. I especially like the new downhill snowboarding. I cannot remember what it is called but it kicks. hope you are all having a happy February. LOVE that it is cold and snowy.

Tag, you're it!

I think I am getting the hang of this Tagging thing.

First piece of (mature) art.

We went with Michael and Erin to dinner at Spicy Basil on Friday night. Then after gormandizing on delicious Thai food, beer and pyramid-shaped rice, we went down the street to the DC Gallery's opening of Shag. I was immediately drawn to this piece called Valley of the Valet. It encompassed everything I like. Mountain house, trees, lots of snow, martinis, and beautiful spikey-breasted women. I am getting if framed by a guy here at work and hopefully it will find a good wall to hang on in my office...for inspiration.
