Better late than never...a letdown on Report Card

This is for the Allbees!

New header

I am working on a new header for this blog. I doubt it will be done this week. But maybe the weekend.
No more holiday look for the rest of the year....until next November. I still wish every day could be like Christmastime.

Work related

I have been super busy working on a project for work. It is not top secret so I can tell you. But it has been soaking up all my time and energy, not to mention how freelance is picking up again. In the last week I have picked up two more clients and have two more client meetings set up for this week and next. I love this energy and love that I am gaining new clients because that means I must be doing something right. Most of the work is from referrals which tells you even more. Tomorrow, the 24 page annual report will be done, and by Saturday by big PIA project will be out the door, then on to some new creative fun. Thanks for reading.

Miners

My thoughts and prayers go out to the miners and their families. Who knew mining still was a part of our culture. We are far removed from some very dangerous jobs. I am bored sometimes being in an office setting with climate control, but working underground in such hazardous conditions seems wrong and makes me respect what I have even more. I understand that we have to do what we have to do to make a living, but when these tragedies strike, i think we need robots doing this.

Wedding Planning

The plans are going smoothly for the most part. I have agreed to not talk about it on my blog unless it is FUN! No FUN yet to report. Money details and planning is not fun. Once we settle those two issues, THEN THE FUN BEGINS.

More Christmas Music

I have added about 10 more Christmas music CDs to my library. I will post them soon. Christy's parents gave me two, one of which I left in their CD player while visiting. I need to get that back. Then, Christy and I went to some after holiday sales and found some more. My coworker Erin just gave me a belated Christmas present including some kick ass socks and a Victorias Secret double Christmas album. Awesome! Thanks everyone.

Jeff Milner, average geek, celebrity status

As I was reading the Wall Street Journal the other day, I read an article about Backmasking which is playing CDs backwards, or digital files, like back in the olden days of playing vinyl backwards and hearing Satan's messages in Beatles songs. this guy wrote a program that does this. Quite interesting program and songs. He has been riding the high horse ever since the article and it's been fun to see an average guy's life transform in the media.

Holiday weight...wait!

I read that the average person THINKS he/she gained 5-7 pounds over the holidays, when in fact they REALLY only gained an average of 2 pounds. I gained 6, dammit! So it is back to the gym three times a week, THAT is a report card I have upheld.

New Years Resolutions

I have set up a few, already dropped a few and added a few more.
What are yours? I like to call them Personal Report Cards since Christy thinks it is a bunch of molarky. I almost agree, but think it is good for you to examine your whereabouts in life, where you are going, fine-tune and move on and up. I have been swamped at work and freelance/home, so I think my report card will take effect Feb. 1st. A nice month off.

Cambric good. Caffiene bad. But good.

I have been lacking concentration at work. I cannot focus on one thing for more than MmMM, coffee sounds good. I cannot focus on one thing for more than five minutes. So, I decided to try cutting out the coffee. I stopped cold turkey, so the headaches came on full force. Then I switched from my old reliable grande americano, to a grande soy, two honey, extra hot decaf chai cambric. For those of you who do not know what a cambric is, it is half water half milk/soy using tea bags. It's English. Anyway, I was on those for a week. My headaches went away, I was caffeine free for a week and it felt good. Trouble is, I still could not concentrate any better, and I missed coffee something terrible. I did sleep better tho. So, I am back on coffee now, but limiting myself to only one a day. I think I need some Ritalin.

Starbucks sells out....Venti mistake

not of coffee, but themselves.
I think it is smart to diversify and move into the entertainment industry, but to put advertising on their cup sleeves? Come on!
This might be my last cup of coffee! Good movie though.

Apple. Macworld. Tomorrow. Big Day.

As a precursor to tomorrows Keynote speech by Steve Jobs at Macworld.
Steve Job's Keynote speech is at 9:00am PST ( that's 10:00am Denver time)

I am anticipating major announcements such as:

  • New Intel powered iMac and Mini

  • New Shuffle iPod with screen

  • It's always an exciting day when Macworld is here!
    Brace yourselves.

Optimism

Happy New Year - belated.

In this new year of 2006, I am not going to make excuses.
I would normally say, "sorry for the delay in posting", but that does no good.
I am not trying to sound negative. Negativity is out this year and optimism and enrichment are in.
Also out in my annual "personal report card" as I am calling it, not, resolutions, is procrastination.
I have made a list of things I would like to do this year. Here are most of them.

  • Try something new every week

  • Try a new restaurant once a month

  • Work on new business ideas at least 2 hours a week

  • Look for at least two positive aspects of any situation or place before you pick it apart

  • Stop complaining about my aches and pains to anyone, including fiance

  • Work on new business ideas at least 2 hours a week

  • Send more cards, correspondence to friends and family

  • Post to blog once a day (even if it is a one-liner)

That should keep me busy for awhile.

I hope you all have enough discipline and foresight to start your own personal report card for the new year. It is a reality check at the least.
