80's Metal Moment!

Judas Priest stopped here on their Angel of Retribution tour last night at Fiddler's Green. Michael B and I went to the show. We had 6th row tickets that were awesome. Rob Halford is back in the band after a haitus of about, what 10 years? The metalheads were out in full force, mostly, we think, from Arvada and Aurora. Priest pulled out the classics, You Got Another Thing Comin', Hell Bent For Leather, and Breakin' The Law! Beers were $8.50. It was good to get the blood pumping again with some 80's energy, despite these guys approaching 60. I swear after every song they would leave the stage to take a hit of oxygen. One highlight was the drunk drunk drunk Thirty-Something chick with her boyfriend who couldn't keep her shirt on. She kept flashing the band and by the end of the show, she just couldn't keep her shirt on. Poor girl. Poor us.....actually. Oh the metal years! I need me some Foo Fighters, pronto. Next up....Iron Maiden.

Apple is at it again! Podcasts and iPod color!

Apple has just released the newest version of iTunes, which has a Podcast directory of 3000 podcast listings. Plus you can add your own as well. They also released two consolidated versions of the iPod. They have done away completely with the black and white screens and are now full color and both the new 20GB ($299) and 60GB ($399) support photos. Kick butt!

Stopping the Slacking

I realize that you, my lovely readers, need more valuable updates on this site, SO, I am making an effort to post every day. Thanks for being patient.
In news, first, is that Christy's mom, Reverend Judy, is in town for the ABC conference. She is staying with us. Last night we sat out on the deck and drank Bees Knees and chatted. It was a beautiful night. Today she rode the bus with me into work, walked over to the conference hotel. Christy made Salmon burgers from Marczks Fine Foods last night. Simply scrumptious.
On Sunday, I had 5 tickets to the Rockies/Royals game. Second row, behind first base. My sister and bro-in-law joined us, along with Erica and another friend Steph. The beers sure were flowing. Fun day. ( I have pics but they are corrupt, I will try again later.)
Gibson went on his first hike of the season on Saturday. We went up to Morrison. I think we got started too late, b/c by mid-hike, we was diving for shade. He was so hot that his tongue had sand on it from sitting in the gravel under shade. Poor dude.
Umm, ok that is it for now. thanks for being bored with me.

Chalk Art in Larimer Square

Wow! This stuff is incredible. Even with the temperature hovering 93 degrees today, the Chalk Art Festivalin Larimer Square was amazing. These people (artists) have been using chalk to draw/create these amazing paintings on the road in LODO since Friday. I was a bit apprehensive to go see them thinking it would be cheesy but I was wrong. Next year, you must go!

Here are some highlights. Remember this is all done on asphalt with chalk.

Creeps

Some fuckstick(s) stole our walk lights from the front yard two nights ago. Just plucked all 8 of them right out of the ground. I hope you are in pain, losers! P.S. Gibson peed right where you grabbed them. Jerks!

Foo Fighters. Rule.

Buy it, download it, whatever, just get it.
In Your Honor is the new highly anticipated double CD from the Foo Fighters.
It is half rock, half acoustic! Dave Grohl has done it again. Every album I think "Wow, how can he outdo the last album, I doubt this will sound as kick ass as the last album", and every time he proves me wrong, proving his worthiness! Dave, I love you!

Let's Hear it for Foo!

The Foo Fighter's new double album is out today! Yippee! I can't wait to go get it! Half rock, half acoustic. Dave Grohl is my hero. I am sure we will not be let down.
In other news, I just found a cool band from New Zealand, Steriogram. They were on this promotional video for Nyko's new iPod movie player. "Hello iTunes, please accept my order for the new Foo and Steriogram. Thanks"

Sign of the Times!

The number of FOR RENT signs counted on Corona from Colfax to Wash Park (Virginia and Downing). I remember almost 6 years ago when I moved here that you could not FIND a rent sign anywhere along this street in Capital Hill. Either everyone is buying because of the low mortgage rates, or people are leaving Denver.....or both.

Restroom Critic

I just launched Restroom Critic. It is in it's "beta" stage right now, but the first critique will be posted this week. Look for new postings every week and a podcast in the next few weeks as well. I am very excited about this new venture. Please feel free to suggest a bathroom for critique. If it's a cool design, great. If it is disgustingly ugly, great! If you would never visit it again, great! Any and all suggestions would be helpful. I will post your name if you want after i review it as well.

Team Gibson

Today was the Lucky Mutt Strut in Wash Park. It was a two mile walk/run around the park. Gibson was such a good boy. he did not bark once even while being subjected to over 1000 other dogs. We saw about three other dachsies. Go Team Gibson!

This is just a funny pic of Gibson in the car. He gets put on the floor when he is being "bad."

Fence is Done

Well, the dudes came and finished the fence last night. Looks great, and the gate works wonderfully. Now Gibson can run around, play and pee in peace!

The Donga Need Food II (part two)

I about flipped. Flipped meaning, I am not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing, but still something to contemplate.
Molly Ringwald (now 37) is considering doing a sequel to Sixteen Candles. Seriously, no more "Yanky my Wanky."

Nike is FREE now!

Hey, these shoes are awesome. Ok, well, they SOUND and LOOK awesome. I am going to get a pair tonight.
The basic idea is that we, as runners, and basically just anyone wearing running or "tennis" shoes, have the added benefit of support, cushion and comfort stability. Nike's new concept is that wearing these types of shoes is causing trauma and atrophy to our feet by not allowing other smaller muscles to develop. You must wear the FREE shoes for two weeks around the house before any running. Then, break them in slowly with a modest 3-4 mile run. Read more about them here.

Get your Apple iPod and/or Battery

So Apple has finally owned up to the iPod battery problem.
I personally own the 3G 40GB model and had just given up using it for casual strolls or on the bus or plane rides cuz the life of the battery was not worth dealing with. Now, hopefully, I can get a revamped one, or if I am lucky, throw in some extra cash and just replace my 40GB with a new 60GB iPod Photo.

New Fence

So a few weeks ago, we had the landscaper dudes come and edge the sidewalks. I love the new edges, they are so clean and fresh, and they make the walks look healthier, if walks CAN look healthier. Anyway, i digress. So then they start talking, in broken English, that If i needed any other work done, they do landscaping. I told them we want to put up a privacy fence and a new flagstone patio. They said, they do it. So anyway, three weeks later, we have our new fence. And a parking spot in the back next to the garage for the Tacoma. These guys do not waste any time. They showed up Monday morning, all 5 brothers, and a few offspring, and started pulling out the chainlink posts and fence. By the time it started raining, at 3, they had the entire fence AND the old clotheline posts removed. Tuesday they showed up at 5:30pm and started on the new fence. They got all the post holes dug, and posts installed with cement. Then Wednesday they got halfway through putting on the slats on, finishing up last night except for the door. Looks awesome, only I don't deal well with certain change, and this is a certain big change. I think once some shrubs and other plants go in, it will soften the high walls surrounding the "estate." I highly recommend these guys if you need a fence. Here are before and after pics with a link to the full coverage.

Memorial Day B B Q

We had a BBQ last sunday. I have just been too busy to tell you all about it. Anyway, it was a good time. The weather on Saturday, as most of you know, was simply gorgeous, with the high of 80, perfect sun, wind out of the north at just 7 mph, and humidity at a skin scratchy 11%. Then comes Sunday. We awoke to overcast skies, the wind had picked up and we had scattered rain downpours all evening. But people still showed up and it was fun. We had gone to Cosco ( i know, i know) the day before and stocked up on beer and burgers and chicken/turkey brats....oh, and cheetohs! The cheetohs were the hit. I think everyone likes them, they just never eat them so the extra-large bag went fast. I dumbster-dived a table from down the street, one of those long ice-cream social tables, fixed the legs and then we went to Linens-n-Things and got a pretty stiped cloth tablecloth and presto, and perfect entertaining table. I rigged up the iPod with my computer speaker system, subwoofer and two satellite speakers which got more compliments than then free booze! All in all it was a good party. Thanks to everyone that braved the weather. Oh, one more thing. To all my East Coast fans. I was telling Christy that if we lived there, no one would have called to see if we were still having the party just cuz of some overcast skies.....sheesh!
Here's a pic of Walmer, his lovely wife Jenny, and your's truly.

See more pics here.
